The main research goal of AQUAINVAD-ED is to exploit novel molecular advances combined with the power of crowd data sourcing (citizen science) to develop innovative methods of early detection, control and management of AIS.

Iva is based at University of Florence in Italy and her research focuses on modeling and assessment of the risk of invasion and efficacy of different control and mitigation measures for freshwater invasive species.

Project Title & Synopsis: “Risk Assesment & Control of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in Freshwater Ecosystems”

Host Institution: Department of Biology, University of Florence

Supervisor(s): Prof. Felicita Scapini, Dr. Elena Tricarico

Biography:  Having wide range of interests, Iva finished two Masters, and gained the valuable experience in private sector -working as a technologist on a fish farm and in non-governmental sector –working as a project coordinator of a projects dealing with freshwater issues. Currently she is a PhD student at the University of Florence focusing on the problems concerning risk of invasion and management and control of aquatic invasive species.
